This Wednesday (29/2/12) I am heading off to Tokyo for a month to participate in this workshop

I will be blogging about it here which you can also link to through the page called Masters and Japan on this blog.

Paper jewellery experiments

I have been experimenting with making jewellery from old magazine pages and staples.
The full collection of images is here :  useless tat paper jewellery

I like this method of playing with materials as it allows me not to worry about how much it costs and also how much my work weighs!  I can pop any spare bits and complete disasters into the recycling and am only using materials I already own.

Totem pole

This totem pole by Tim Paul was my favourite piece at Yorkshire Sculpture Park this weekend.  It was made in 1982 from red cedar.

I also really loved this by Sol LeWitt

And I found a couple of bits of the writing about Eduardo Paolozzi interesting:
'Through casting interesting objects pressed into a wax sheet, he built up a library of impressions that were used in combination to create sculptures'
'He was always interested in the views of children, and never lost his fascination for the world around him.'
