flux

A flow or flowing: A continued flow; a flood. The flowing in of the tide. The rate of flow of fluid, particles, or energy through a given surface. The lines of force of an electric or magnetic field. Constant or frequent change; fluctuation

visile

1. An obsolete term denoting the type of mental imagery in which one recalls most readily that which has been seen.

Compare: audile, motile.

2. A person with such mental imagery.

node

1.  a knot, protuberance, or knob.

2.  a centering point of component parts.

3.  Anatomy . a knotlike mass of tissue: lymph node.

4.  Pathology . circumscribed swelling.

multivalent - having many interpretations, uses or values

didactic - intended to teach or give moral guidance

veneration - respectfulness

trenchant - expressed forcefully and clearly


auguries - signs of the future, omens

Interesting, although I am not sure that I like it or their thinking behind it.  I will have to think about it more!

Slow Words

This article from the School of Life is quite interesting.  I am not convinced that the idea of the use of simple words to make a clearer message is a new one, or that describing a pie as a cottage with subsidence is that simple an analogy however words (and the use there of, percieved and actual meaning etc) surrounding Slow interest me as does this idea of using words with a (assumed) Slower feeling.

Slow as an outdated word

Is Slow as a word misleading or outdated?  How up to date are words to do with sustainability ?  is there a comfort or familiarity with words such as green and does that lessen their impact?  These are questions I will be looking at further.  One of the many things that has got me thinking about these words, their true meanings and their implications is this quote:
